Why feeling like sh*t is okay 💩

“I want to chuck my work laptop out the window”

✋ Raise your hand if this resonates (it’s okay, no one can see you).

In the past month, I’ve heard things like this at the start of my coaching programs:

  • “I feel burnt out and exhausted. I can't keep going like this.”
  • “My hands are slipping off the monkey bars.”
  • “Every morning, I wake up with dread.”
  • “I’m counting down the days until I can leave.”
  • “Everything about this job feels wrong. I’m just over it.”

You might feel like sh*t now… and that’s okay. Actually, I’m excited for you.

This isn’t schadenfreude. I just know—after my own career twists and turns, and coaching 82 people through theirs—that ongoing discomfort is an invitation to change.

Whether you shift how you relate to work, make a small pivot, or blow it all up and start fresh, your feelings are breadcrumbs toward clarity.

If you slow down to understand your discomfort, you’ll make informed, intentional choices. But if you ignore it, you risk jumping out of the frying pan (bad) and into the fire (worse).

That’s why I created the Stuck to Sparked workshop: to help you pause and reflect, so you can act with intention.

We’re full for January, but you can join the waitlist for February here:

Here are some ways we’ll leverage your sh*tty feelings for clarity and confidence (and yes, at this point I’m seeing how many times I can say “sh*t” in one professional email 😆):

  • Values: What drains your energy and why? For example, if red tape drives you nuts, agency or efficiency might be key for you.
  • Superpowers: You’re great at a lot, but what do you enjoy? If annual performance and comp reviews make you audibly groan, it may be time to focus elsewhere.
  • Resistance: Career aspirations often trigger “yeah, but…” doubts. We’ll separate fact from feeling so you can move towards greener pastures.
  • Translation: Chances are you’re craving something essential right now (and it’s painful not to have it). We’ll figure out ways to get it—in or outside of work.
  • Experiments: Small actions build confidence and clarity. We’ll craft tests to help you move through and out of the sh*t you want to leave behind.

See you at the next workshop—or send the link to a loved one as a killer Valentine’s gift ♥️

Onward!

“Weird times.” That’s what my CTO friend and I kept saying on one of our classic LA rollerblade catch-ups this weekend. We were talking about AI. That thing that went from niche buzzword to novelty toy to personal assistant to existential threat in just a decade. Yes, we’re living in weird times. But I’m not worried. Not because my head’s buried in analog sand. Because I’m curiously plugged into how this is unfolding and calmly, creatively iterating on how I work and deliver value to my...

Hey! Grace Fabian here (formerly Vigeant or Epstein depending on when we met). Same career coach, same obsession with your professional fulfillment. Just a zhuzhed-up sender line. I caught up with a career coaching client recently. She landed a perfect-fit leadership role during our work together and is now renegotiating comp and title (cuz she’s been kicking even more ass than they hired her for). Like most of my clients, she’s a seasoned pro. Not her first rodeo. She’s been the job seeker...

On Monday, I looked at my calendar and blurted out, “Ugh, I’m obsessed with this week!” Far cry from my stress-filled Subway commutes, back when I was a walking bag of cortisol. I coach people to design careers they love. I shouldn’t be in business if I don’t have a career that I love—and continually iterate as I grow and the world shifts. So what made me audibly celebrate my week? Well… My clients are ridiculously cool. Kicked off the week with a creative tech wiz, a comms prof, a...
