Can you actually love your career?

“Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.”

Are you enthusiastically nodding? Or is your BS-o-Meter blaring?

Honestly, I’m somewhere in the middle! Like most oversimplified quotes dubiously attributed to Confucius, the truth is in the nuance.

This has been the mission of my coaching practice since day one:

Design a career you love

This is the ROI that I promise to my clients.

And I take that promise seriously. As a data nerd who measures success by real impact on real people—and has a deep aversion to grifters (in an industry full of them)—I spend a lot of time defining exactly what "love" means in the context of work so I can consistently deliver on it.

A career you love does not mean:

  • Making your work your primary source of identity, validation, and community
  • Indexing on passion over paycheck (in this economy?!)
  • Never having to do boring, stressful, or tedious tasks
  • That your perfectionism and people pleasing tendencies will magically disappear
  • The systems that make labor soul-sucking no longer apply to you

A career you love is one you intentionally choose

Yes, we celebrate your job offers, business launches, and promotions. But the real ROI of our work together is greater agency over your career and the life it supports—today and as you and the world continue to evolve.

“I feel grounded, expansive, and confident about what I actually want now.”
—Chief of Staff, Nonprofit

“I now have much more confidence in my abilities and clarity around what I want.”
— Marketing & Communications

“The world seems more full of possibility. I’m in control of my destiny.”
—Engineer & Writer

“I have so much clarity and agency over my career.”
—Staff Software Engineer

“I now have a framework to make sure every career decision aligns with my values.”
—Teacher to Executive Assistant

And selfishly, I want you to love your career!

Because when passionate powerhouses like you are grounded and moving with intention (and not sprinting 1K mph towards some nonsense), you launch innovative products, lead inspiring movements, and show up beautifully for the people who matter most to you.

Yes, even in #LateStageCapitalism.

Permission granted to be vulnerable. Yes, we’re talking about work, but you are the heart of this story. Thanks in advance for trusting me.

Onward!

Let's get this out of the way: There's no such thing as a perfect career. There's no single job or path that provides 24/7 positive energy and early retirement. So with love: put down the Scantron, former A+ student turned ladder-climbing executive. And loosen your white-knuckle grip on that outdated definition of success. You...

A heart-driven high-achiever who cares deeply and is motivated to make a meaningful impact in and out of work. But… Something’s off in your career, and you’re feeling it Maybe: Your signature passionate powerhouse energy is zapped You don’t feel equipped for today’s labor market, political landscape, or AI disruption Your priorities shifted (family, health, projects) but work is still...

I used to be more bossy. Call it eldest daughter syndrome. Call it soothing anxiety by pretending to know all the answers and have total control over the situation. Call it leadership skills (if I was a boy). These days, I aim to be more of an expert listener, synthesizer, and reflector-backer. A master question-asker and onion-layer-peeler. A scaffolding-builder and interrogator of everything holding you back from what you want. Friends and family often ask how I bite my tongue when a client...
