What’s your secret desire?

“I haven’t told anyone this before…”

I got hit with this exciting preamble twice this weekend, on two separate hangs with former coworkers. My bestie confirmed that being someone people feel comfy spilling their guts to has always been part of my personal brand. It’s an honor to receive and nurture people’s secrets—and I’m so lucky I’ve found a way to do it for work, too.

Secret disclosures get me hype. Yes, my ego enjoys being The Chosen One. But mostly, it’s because someone is taking something that’s been lodged in their heart, mind, and spirit for a long time, and bravely bringing it into the light.

In the past month alone, my clients have shared their:

  • Desire to heal people instead of pumping out widgets for profit
  • Vision to homeschool their kids in Europe while working remotely
  • Intention to finally turn that 2017 domain purchase into a real business
  • Rural commune dreams after years in a solo city apartment
  • Need for way more money as a member of the sandwich generation

And I’m hype because…

Sharing a secret desire is the first step to making it real.

Now, if you’re someone who’s constantly dreaming up and yapping about big schemes—but not doing the work to bring them to life—this message is not for you.

This message is for the Get Shit Done dynamo with a persistent whisper (or incessant scream) that your superpowers, time, and energy could be much better spent bringing your secret to life.

You may be scared to share your secret because that means:

  • It’s open to external judgment—and you tend to self-abandon unless everyone and their mother is fully on board
  • You have to sit in the discomfort of not yet achieving it. You prefer to be at 100%, and you’re basically signing up to “fail” for a while

But I’m encouraging you to be brave and share. Because when you’re rocketing full speed toward your heart’s desire, your success becomes inevitable.

Personally, I’m celebrating my highest-earning month yet, with a roster full of incredible clients and plenty of non-worth-producing breathing room. This did not happen by accident.

Last year, I finally allowed myself to envision my dream bi-coastal life, filled with music, relationships, social impact, and deep immersion in the natural world. I put a price tag on that vision and shared it with my coaches’ community and my financial advisor. Then I made a plan to get there.

The planning part was easy. Worrying that my vision was delusional, then acknowledging that I was “behind” for months and months was hard. But now I’m here. Because I started by sharing my secret.

So, what’s your secret desire?

Who is a trusted person who can hold it tenderly and celebrate and challenge you to bring it to life? If you don’t have that person, I’m happy to be that. Just reply to this email. I won’t pitch you—just root for you.

Onward!

I used to be more bossy. Call it eldest daughter syndrome. Call it soothing anxiety by pretending to know all the answers and have total control over the situation. Call it leadership skills (if I was a boy). These days, I aim to be more of an expert listener, synthesizer, and reflector-backer. A master question-asker and onion-layer-peeler. A scaffolding-builder and interrogator of everything holding you back from what you want. Friends and family often ask how I bite my tongue when a client...

This weekend, between idyllic sun-kissed park hangs, ocean views, and coffee shop chats, I finally faced the reality that my LA home is also host to wildfires and potentially an earthquake so devastating that it simply goes by, “The Big One.” I wrote out my emergency plan and packed a go bag. Some of my friends lovingly roll their eyes at my “prepper” behavior. Others plotted their exit routes immediately after the 2025 wildfires, and are shocked it’s taken me this long. Ultimately I chose...

Are you a “work to live” person? You might pity or roll your eyes at those “live to work” people. While they’ve decided to go full tilt into their careers, you see it as a means to an end. Maybe you used to go harder (better, faster, stronger), but your fuel ran out. Maybe you’ve entered a new phase of life, and your health, relationships, hobbies, or social issues demand center stage. I see you. I’m the “design a career you love” person AND I believe we all must “work to live.” Because work...
