What if this is as hard as it gets?

When I was getting my coaching certification at Brown University School of Professional Studies, we learned the most uncomfortable (but essential!) part of coaching:

Challenging our clients.

Sure, recognizing strengths and celebrating wins is a one-way ticket to Dopamine City. But real growth comes when you shine a light on how someone’s getting in their own way, and encourage them to take the spicier, better path forward.

Do I have your permission to challenge you?

(If not, feel free to unsubscribe.)

Here goes:

If you’ve been feeling stuck in your career for more than 3 months, it’s time to act. The negativity is already seeping into your health and wellbeing. Your nearest and dearest are tired of your kvetching. And future-you will regret choosing the familiar hell over the unfamiliar heaven.

I’m not saying it’s your fault you’re here. Work has a nasty habit of torching, instead of supporting, our lives. And I’m not saying the path forward is easy. If it were, you’d already be happily sashaying into your future.

But I am saying…

It’s time to do something about your career.

Do something before you spend another month…

  • Drained of energy, struggling to be present with loved ones, neglecting your health and activities that make life sparkly
  • Growing resentful of your job, watching that poison turn you into a more reactive version of yourself while your performance and relationships suffer
  • Inching closer to a breaking point—rage quitting, burning out, or jumping into another crappy role—rather than making an intentional choice
  • Yearning for a dream job, business, or balanced life while judging yourself for not creating the time, structure, or momentum to make it real
  • Overwhelmed by options, so paralyzed that you stay put because it feels impossible to make sense of it all

I challenge you to book an Exploration Chat.

You’ll walk away with clarity on your next steps, plus some relief that you’re finally making progress (whether we work together or not).

If we continue with 1:1 career coaching, here’s what I can guarantee:

  • Right now: A proud, committed member of your team (me)
  • Within a week: More hope and agency, because you’ve got a plan and actions to take
  • Within a month: Your custom compass and criteria to guide your choices
  • Within 6 weeks: Your menu of aligned career concepts to pilot in the real world
  • Within 3 months: Commitment to an exciting, feasible direction with a risk-smart plan

Sometimes you’ll even land the fulfilling, sustainable, and truly yours kind of work in those 3 months. And if not, I’ve got a lighter-touch program to keep you supported until you do.

I get it, reaching out can feel like another to-do. And in this economy, with so many demands on our attention, we’re mindful of how we spend our precious bucks and energy. But please ask yourself:

What will it cost you to stay stuck for another 3 months?

Career coaching is an investment in yourself, your relationships, and your future self. Just ask previous passionate powerhouses who’ve worked with me to design careers they love:

This weekend, between idyllic sun-kissed park hangs, ocean views, and coffee shop chats, I finally faced the reality that my LA home is also host to wildfires and potentially an earthquake so devastating that it simply goes by, “The Big One.” I wrote out my emergency plan and packed a go bag. Some of my friends lovingly roll their eyes at my “prepper” behavior. Others plotted their exit routes immediately after the 2025 wildfires, and are shocked it’s taken me this long. Ultimately I chose...

Are you a “work to live” person? You might pity or roll your eyes at those “live to work” people. While they’ve decided to go full tilt into their careers, you see it as a means to an end. Maybe you used to go harder (better, faster, stronger), but your fuel ran out. Maybe you’ve entered a new phase of life, and your health, relationships, hobbies, or social issues demand center stage. I see you. I’m the “design a career you love” person AND I believe we all must “work to live.” Because work...

Does anyone else feel like cults are in the zeitgeist right now? Between the slew of Netflix documentaries, increasingly tribal politics, and the expanding influencer industry, I’m seeing more experts step forward to explain how smart, capable people can get drawn into coercive systems. I was listening to Dr. Steven Hassan, a prominent expert on cults, on Trevor Noah’s podcast this weekend. He was describing the psychology of high-control groups—how members shift beliefs, behaviors, even...
